Here is what our little guy looks like this week....although much cuter, I'm sure! I hope he is a mini-Kevin!! Right now he is about 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. It is just so incredible how he is developing in there!
We had an appointment on Tuesday and all is well! I have pretty much maintained my same schedule throughout the pregnancy and many people are telling me to slow down. I asked my Dr. what he thought and he said "Allison, if you are feeling good, keep doing what you are doing! The baby is healthy and you feel good....you may just breeze through this pregnancy! Your body will tell you when to slow down." So, onward and upward! I figure I need to maintain my current energy levels so that they are still there when this baby boy arrives! I figure if I can volunteer 20 hours a week, work 40-50 hours a week, exercise and make time to relax and have fun I can handle this mother thing, right?!
Allison's REFLECTION: "Breeze though this pregnancy"....what exactly does that mean? Yes, I feel good, but there is the always the typical pregnancy side affects: strange dreams, the widening of the waistline, hips, bust line and well...just about everything.... (didn't think my booty could actually get bigger--I swear Hannalori, it is!), the constant worries about being a good parent, registering--what if we choose the wrong car seat?!, swollen ankles, gas--OK this is something they don't tell you ladies (or the husbands because they might reconsider this whole thing if they knew)--the gas is pretty deadly--even clears the dogs out of the room. So yes, while I seem to be "breezing" through this and have the admiration of those who are not (or have not) there are still those side affects that make me very much P-R-E-G-G-O!
I love being pregnant, but I think I will love being a mom even more....so let the countdown begin! Then a whole new round of "side effects" begins....
Allison
p.s. I hope to get Kevin's refelctions posted on here as well. He has been such a champ--even went to "couples yoga" on Friday--I am one lucky momma!
