Yep. My "official" last day of maternity leave was yesterday. I do feel so fortunate, though, to have been with Asher for almost 11 weeks, and with my flexible schedule I will only be away from him about 8 hours a week...I KNOW! VERY lucky. My new work schedule is: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday in the office from 11-7 and Wed-Fri at home. Kev will pick up Asher at 4:00 on Mondays and Tuesdays and I will go and feed him at lunchtime. Our friends Cal, Alicia and Sonia will be taking care of him and when Jordan and Emily are back to Reno (On Feb 14th, I think!), Em will help out too. So, Asher will be in the hands of good friends and family. I feel so fortunate. In April Kevin will start his paternity leave on through the summer, which is SO cool. I think Kev being with Asher for 4.5-5 months will be a great bonding experience for the two!
I have been working at home a little during this time, so I know I can make it work. I subscribed to gotomypc.com which gives me access to my computer at work (emails, files--everything!), which is super convenient.
Asher is continuing to grow and change everyday. At his two month check-up the Doc said that he is looking very healthy. He is in the 71st percentile for height (which is great, considering he was 4 weeks early!), but still low on the weight end...the Doc called him "Tall and Skinny", to which Kevin replied "Just like his mom and dad!" hehe. My husband, the comedian.
Asher is smiling a lot more, which is fun. He also loves to hear our voices. The other day he was a little upset, then when Kev walked in the door and he heard his voice he instantly stopped crying to figure out where dad was. It was so cool to watch. He usually smiles the most right after a good meal (like the rest of us). I keep trying to capture it on film, but haven't been too successful. My mom got us a video camera for Christmas which should arrive any day now, so I hope to get some video of Asher smiling and telling us stories. He is a real talker!
We are going to spend Superbowl Sunday at home, just us. I am trying to find a "signature dish" to make every year that we look forward to. Maybe a special Chili or chicken dish....
Love to all.
