First Rice Cereal 3/14/09
Yes, Asher turned 4 months on Wednesday. We can hardly believe it!
He had his well-baby appointment on Friday and is doing well. He is still "long and skinny": 25 inches long and 11lbs 7 oz. His head is growing steadily, which is great. The doc gave us the OK to try introducing some solid foods. Asher is still eating every two hours (except at night when he sleeps about 4-5 hours without waking) and has really shown interest in our foods, so we thought it may be time. Yesterday I went and bought the rice cereal and spoons, but we waiting until this morning for the new adventure. We tried to put him in this little booster seat we have, but he wasn't having it....so we moved him to our laps and he seemed to like that a lot more. I don't know how much food he actually got down, but he seemed to enjoy this new sensation and will learn soon enough how to get it down! It must have worked, though, because Kev and Asher have been napping for almost an hour and a half after the cereal! Maybe this will mean longer naps!!
In the next few weeks we will probably start introducing some veggies, then fruits. It is so hard to believe that he is getting big enough to eat "real" foods! I still plan on breastfeeding until at least year--as long as he is still happy doing it! There is just nothin' better than mama's milk ;)
Aunt Emily and Uncle Jordan came over last night and brought dinner. We had such a nice time and love having them so close. Asher had a GREAT time with Auntie Emily on Monday and talked and talked about it! He is always facinated by Jordan too--kind of a "Hey you look like my dad and me".
We are enjoying daylights savings (yeah longer days!!) and the upper 60's weather we have been having. It is so uplifting and motivating to get things done around the house. We have a ton of visitors on their way, which is going to be really fun! One of our friends from Canada that we met in Japan is coming in today with his family for a Tahoe Ski trip, so we hope to see him tonight. He will be our first friend from Japan to meet Asher!! Next month our friend Matthew from England will be the 2nd!! My Aunt Carolyn arrives on Sunday to visit for a few days, then my mom comes the following week, then Mark, Lyndsy and Cade the following week! WOW! Of course, they are all coming to see the little man!! We can't wait for all of the fun.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I am off to go clean the guest room!
